Metsän Väki – The Forest Folk is a new body of work by Laura Itkonen and Lotta Veromaa of LEM Collective, exploring the Finnish forest as a place of mythology, imagination and contested realities.
Drawing from folklore and the symbolic world of forest animals, the works create a contemporary mythology in which familiar figures take on new and sometimes contradictory roles. Through ceramics, sculpture and installation, the project moves between the playful and unsettling, using storytelling and visual symbolism to reflect on how narratives are created, repeated and transformed.
